The spinto-dramatic soprano Paola Bess with her unique timbre has a metallic and penetrating voice with an ample projection, being able to interpret the great heroines of Italian verismo. Her homogeneous tessitura easily projects through large orchestras and she also impresses with her harmonic-filled mid and low registers. Her brilliant high notes enchant especially for the authenticity present in the drama that she imposes on her performances.
Born in Brazil from the early age of 3 she already demonstrated her musical talent as a soloist influenced by her mother who was also a singer. In her youth she began her musical studies at the Conservatory Pablo Komlós in Porto Alegre (Brazil) under the guidance of tenor Decápolis de Andrade. She debuted as a soprano soloist with OSPA (Orquestra Sinfônica de Porto Alegre) at the age of 20 in a lyrical concert by the opera “Rigoletto” and “La Traviata” conducted by Túlio Belardi. Since then she has been performing in front of the major orchestras in her region, even being awarded in 2021 as “The Most Beautiful Brazilian Female Voice” at the Bixiga Youth Symphony Orchestra Festival in São Paulo.
She perfected herself with great names of the world’s erudite scene such as Carlo Colombara, Miguel Patron Marchand, José Oliveira Lopes, Decápolis de Andrade, Gisa Volkmann, Carlos Rodrigues, Carla Maffioletti, Alessandro Sangiorgi, Flávio Leite, Massimiliano Carraro, Vítor Philomeno, Narelle Martinez , among others.
Throughout 2022 she improved herself with the very well known coaches Fabio Cerroni and Thomas Hulmann, both from the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Also in 2022, she began her technical studies of high improvements with Narelle Martinez especially concerning the repertoires of Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi. In 2023 she starts work her repertoire with the maestro Vlad Iftinca at the Stuttgart Opera.
